Stallholder at the village’s market, her counter is always kept tidy and colorful. Bernadette sells tomatoes, bananas, mangosteens, carrots, avocados, cassava leaves... as well as rice and all kinds of legumes: lentils, white beans, red beans, cape peas, bambara beans, cowpeas... divided in burlap sacks of different sizes. She is always very neat and pays great attention to her appearance. Every Wednesday and Saturday she goes to her friend Esther’s house to redo her braids, which she ties on top of her head.
